Our Community

Gisborne Montessori School provides many opportunities for families to participate in school events. These range from structured Information Sessions to informal Coffee Mornings and lunches, fundraising events to participation in a volunteer team.

Information Sessions are offered regularly throughout the year. These comprise of formal presentations regarding principles and practice of the School and an informal component where parents and family members are invited to appraise classroom materials and activities.

Students especially love to host Special Persons Day where they proudly show a Special Person their work and how their classroom operates.

The Volunteer Committee structure creates a platform for the involvement of families in activities that directly benefit the children. It also enables families to develop strong ties to other families and the school community, whilst demonstrating to the children the importance of GMS in the life of the family. The various Committees facilitate volunteer participation in the roles of: Buildings and Grounds Development and Maintenance, Library, Uniform Shop, Equipment Making and Repair, Fundraising and Classroom Support.
