Square Foot Garden

Our garden is being developed and gently tended by students, teachers and parents to become a haven for learning possibilities.

The aim of this no-dig garden is to encourage students to observe and participate in growing vegetables to complement the lunch menu prepared in the school kitchen. Students are encouraged to plant, tend, harvest and eat the produce. Holes in the composting tubes encourage worms to breakdown the kitchen waste.

If a child can smell a freshly picked tomato, feel the soil texture, look at the brightly coloured capsicum, hear different bird calls and taste organically grown cucumber, their senses are engaged in a real setting that excites them to learn more.
